This Opportunity WSP is currently looking for an **Early Career Ecologist** to join our **Gainseville, FL location.** In this role you will be responsible for oversight and permit compliance associated environmental and engineering consulting projects. Your Impact + Primarily responsible for inspection and oversight of construction sites/activities for compliance with environmental permit conditions including stormwater and erosion controls + Additional tasks supporting environmental permitting and ecological evaluations: + Jurisdictional wetland delineation + Threatened and endangered species surveys, specifically gopher tortoise + Assessment of potential impacts to wetlands and/or protected species + Proposal preparation, project management, regulatory agency coordination + Wetland mitigation monitoring + Local and/or national travel with possible short-term or long-term assignments at project sites Who You Are **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, Wildlife Ecology, Wetland Ecology, Botany, or related field. + 0-1 years of relative experience + Familiarity with Florida wetland ecology, wildlife ecology, and/or botany + Fluency in regulatory agency guidelines in the state of Florida (FDEP, FWC, USACE, USFWS) + Capable of producing clear and concise written documents + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required + Comfortable with managing a workflow that includes field work and completion of reporting tasks for multiple projects in a timely manner + Capable of working independently and effectively with a team + Self-motivated, reliable and dedicated individual + Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector + FWC Gopher Tortoise Agent preferred + Minimum one to two years of professional experience. + Advanced degree (MS, PhD) can be substitute for experience. \#LI-SV1 **About WSP** WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
