The position is a 9-month appointment (paid over 12 months). We are looking for an individual eager to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong desire to build upon their teaching strengths. The experience gained, mentorship received, and training opportunities offered are ideal for someone in pursuit of a teaching-centered faculty career. The position is a one-year terminal appointment that is renewable for up to 3 years (based on departmental needs), with a start date of August 16, 2024. It includes full benefits. Qualifications and Responsibilities:The successful candidate will have a MS or PhD in wildlife ecology or closely related discipline. Candidates must have both the educational background and a demonstrable ability to teach undergraduate courses in wildlife ecology and related subjects for majors and non-majors. Strengths in one or more of the following are desired: R, GIS, vertebrate taxonomy, or policy and administration. The successful candidate will teach 12 credits per semester or equivalent, covering a variety of topics such as Wildlife Policy and Society, Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, Introduction to Quantitative Ecology, Population Ecology, Conservation Biology, Mammalogy, Ornithology, and/or GIS for Wildlife Conservation. Candidates should be committed to high-quality instruction in a collaborative, hands-on learning environment. They should be able to work with students with diverse learning styles and backgrounds. Candidates should also have experience with using technology to foster student learning. They should be willing to collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes. General Information:The Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources has 12 faculty and 18 affiliated faculty. The Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology offers two BS degrees: Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, and Insect Ecology and Conservation; a 4+1 in Insect and Wildlife Environmental Education; two MS degrees: Entomology or Wildlife Ecology; and one PHD degree: Entomology and Wildlife Ecology. The Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major has the second largest undergraduate enrollment in the college (approximately 200 majors). Class sizes range from approximately 30-35 students in upper-level major requirements to 200 students in introductory courses.
