JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Entomology (http://ento.psu.edu/) at Penn State (https://psu.edu) invites applications for a faculty position in Chemical Ecology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. This is a nine-month, tenure-track position with a 75% research and 25% teaching responsibility. We seek candidates who use chemical approaches to address fundamental questions in ecology, evolution, and/or behavior of organisms across any level of biological organization. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, plant-herbivore interactions, microbial ecology, chemical communication, evolutionary genetics of secondary metabolism, and ecological metabolomics. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will establish an innovative and externally funded research program, publish in leading scholarly journals, and mentor graduate students. Teaching responsibilities include teaching ENT202, Insect Connections (residential and on-line), teaching in the Graduate Program as needed. Engaging with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students at the Departmental, College, and University levels is a responsibility of this academic appointment. QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in entomology, chemistry, ecology, or related life sciences with demonstrated accomplishments in chemical ecology research. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date. The position will be affiliated with the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences to facilitate participation in interdisciplinary research initiatives such as the Insect Biodiversity Center (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/insect-biodiversity-center) , Center for Chemical Ecology (https://ento.psu.edu/research/centers/chemical-ecology) , Center for Parasitic and Carnivorous Plants (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/center-for-parasitic-and-carnivorous-plants) , Microbiome Center (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/microbiome-center) , Ecology Institute (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/ecology-institute) and Plant Institute (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/plant-institute) .
